Dear Volks,
While travelling Ireland this summer I saw an unusual, right-hand-drive Westfalia: It had the fiberglas pop-top with Westfalia logo, but with a twist -- the back half of the fiberglas was "popped up" approximately 6" to accept an extra-thick mattress! Apparently, this was a stock option from Westfalia not available in North America. A rough diagram is included below: __________________ ________________/ \ /_________|__________________________\ // | | | | \ \\ \ // | | | | \ \\ \ //________| |__________| |___________\ \\ \ / | | | | |
Looked pretty comfortable to me. Saw lots of other types of VW vans as well. Boy, driving on those tiny Irish roads (on the left no less) sure makes for an exciting trip!
Cheers,
