All absorption refrigerators take a long time to cycle and cool properly. I start mine two or three days before any trip. Use the propane or 110 volt. Also, all food placed in these things should be pre cooled. They have very poor recovery. Also, during hot weather, it is important to keep the van ventilated as the cooling coils are located inside the van.
