Subject: SDP Says My Front Diff Does Not Exist
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

SDP emailed back to me saying they have no record of ever having produced an ADK series front differential!!

ADK is the one I have with front diff lock, and I am about ready to install it. Is there anybody with a European microfiche (mine is rather old and probably out of date) who can tell me what the ADKs series front diffs were? Or do I have some weird one-off made in the Volkswagen factory?

I have a SDP front differential here with code letters ADK. The person I bought it from said he knew nothing about it.

I cannot get any information about this unit here in the United States as Volkswagen informs me no ADK front differentials were imported to North America. Apparently, I have the only one.Can you tell me the final drive ratio for this unit? I need to determine whether it is 4.86 to find out if it is compatable with the transmission in my vehicle.

(The part number is "094 409 410 SOP" and code "ADK 248"). Any information about the ADK series would be most helpful. ________________________________________________________ Derek Drew New York, NY & Washington, DC drew@interport.net '90 Syncro Westfalia... ...seen off-road at http://www.tiu.net/~des/vw/drew/index.html
