Subject: Vanaogon repair in NY?

Hi all, As a precursor to a possible Vanagon, I decided to look around for Vanagon expertise in my area (Westchester County, New York). Nothing was noted in the VANAGON.COM recommended repair shop list, so I called the only three places that mentioned "VW" in the yellow pages.

VW Auto Sales, Pleasantville ("Volkswagen Experts", "If we can't fix it, we'll Buy it") - Said they were familiar with the Vanagon and could check one out for me. Could even find me one for sale if I needed it.

Ye Old Volks Haus, Mount Vernon ("Specializing in repairs on Volkswagen and most foreign cars") - Immediately said they were notorious for cylinder head leaks (a good sign)

Germanhaus Autowerker, Pleasantville (We specialize in Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, VW, Volvo, BMW) - Gruff and unfriendly, when I asked "are they familiar with the water-cooled Vanagon engine", answered nastily "thats what we do for a living" - immediately crossed them off my list.

So has anyone on the list had experiences with any of the above repair shops?
