Hi Phil and Volks,

I'm not sure what you're calling roof panels. Do you mean the underside of the upper bunk? In my '82 Westy virtually all the textured vinyl skin (not the Formica) was blistered and loose from the cabinet and ceiling panels. I think the cause was a brake fluid drip from a bad hydraulic clutch master cylinder that had saturated the front carpet while the van remained closed up and rarely used by the previous owner for about a year. I speculate that methanol fumes from the brake fluid loosened up the adhesive and caused the vinyl to shrink. Please let me know if you find a source for the skin. I peeled all mine loose.

Many of the camper interior parts, and the water and propane system parts can be ordered from Euro-American RV Products, 5517 Cleon Avenue, No. Hollywood, CA 91601; phone 818-760-4214; fax 818-760-4216. Their prices are high, but they are the OEM parts supplier. Example, the black Westy water spigot with the built-in switch for the water pump costs $49.95 plus shipping and tax, which for me added up to $59.57.

Probably the best all-around source of parts is the Bus Depot, run by Vanagon List member Ron Salmon. You can phone them at 215-234-VWVW (8989), and they have a Web site at http://www.busdepot.com

It is an 82 westy and i would like to know where are good places to buy parts. It has the stove and fridge one of the burners on the stove doesn't work the knob seems to be stuck, and when using the refrigerator how do i use the gas option i read the instructions but no help as far as figuring out if its on or not. Also i have a couple of panels that need to be recoverd (roof panels) does anyone know where i can get a suitable material to match the orginal to recover these with? Also any information on how to use the auxilary heater booster would be helpful. I have the bentley for the vanagon but it fails to explain how to use things. Any information will be GREATLY appreciated! :)
