I just went and looked at a new '99 VW winnie conversion van this afternoon and.... I almost passed out when I saw the $36,000.00 price tag! And that does NOT include destination and dealer prep! There was much less room in this thing over the vanagon. The GROUND CLEARANCE is almost non-existant. If you drive off paved roads, your gonna hit the propane tank--especially with that longer wheel base. I was not impressed. However, I'll take that motor! It comes in ONE COLOR---White. Options--???? NO standard transmissions? At least this is what the dealer told me.

Anyway, I felt very crouded in this "new" VW van. The dealer did agree with me that the westfalia conversion is FAR better and the vanagon gave much more room. NOW, if VW can come up with a vanagon with handling and power of a new 99 VW van and insatll the WESTFALIA conversion in, I'll take it. But, I think I'll wait till that $36,000 price tag decreases, at least by 10K!
