My 87 Vanagon saga continues.  What started as a simple pushrod tube change
has now become a serious problem (ARRGH).  After I reported to all of you
that I had no compression in #4 cylinder, it was just as the general
consensus had figured........a push rod not centered on lifter.  Once I
fixed that problem I drove it approximately 75 miles and it ran poorly (no
power). So I removed the rocker assembly this weekend and found that I have
a pushrod that is literally stuck and I cannot get it out . I tried
clamping with vise grips and prying out with screw driver and that didn;t
work !   I am going to sacrifice the pushrod tube to get a better look at
the problem.  Apparently a lifter is damaged as well as a pushrod, because
there was a clip (that looks like the retainer for the lifter) in the valve
cover.  This week I will climb back under the van and try to remove the rod
and lifter again.  I don't really want to drop the engine but I may have
to..

You know this wouldn't be to bad if it wasn't self inflicted !! (ARGHHH)
