Robyn, It's always a tough call if you want to bring your vehicle to dealer for 30K (or 60K, 90K etc.) check-up. It normally very expensive and all the dealer do just hook up a computer and, as they said, "check-up" ( and they make big money from it ). Any additional parts, fluid etc. will be additional! I'd say if the factory warranty will not be voided, you know all the necessary maintenance schedule and you can do it by yourself, you can ignore it. If you don't know too much about the maintenance, then go bite the bullet and let the dealer make the profit. You should be able to find all necessary items needed to get attention for each maintenance interval from your owner's manual or (in case the VW) a separate maintenance schedule booklet. Make your own call, Yi-Ruey Wei 87 Vanagon GL Syncro w/78K miles 85 Jetta GLI w/165K miles

Listees, I am considering getting the 30K check up done at my local dealer. I have heard one quote as much as 550 smackers and the guy couldn't even tell what's involved. Is it worth it? If not what things need attention at the stage of the game? Thanks. Robyn 91 Westy Syncro (coming up on 30k miles)
