My parts van (obligatory Vanagon content) is stored in an abandoned gas station owned by a friend of mine. The former station operators left lots of stuff when they skipped out on the rent two years ago. The station is still vacant, but that's a long story. Besides, it gives me a free place to store vehicles.

One of several engines left behind (with the old Chevy 350s) is a Mercedes V-8. My brother thinks it is from a Mercedes 450. I don't know anything about its condition, but it is free to anyone who wants it. Just come and get it. I will ship it only as far as I can push it on its dolly before the first caster falls off.

Just think of the torque curve if someone could stuff it into a Vanagon!
