Subject: Re[2]: NAPA - Syncro axles $82/ - any good? SUMMARY

Summarizing the responses:

Caveat emptor You get what you pay for - 3 NAPA sets in 1 yr on a cabriolet Keep your receipt, you will need it...often, and w/o it, getting new parts is much more difficult Replace the packing grease with MoS2 NAPA stuff is good, if you have problems, call their head office and they will make it right.

The impression I get is that these parts are like the Kragen/Grand/Chief Lifetime warranty parts - how many times will you invest the time, $, and labor to install substandard parts before you give up and get quality parts. I expect more from NAPA,and I think usually you do get more.

I would consider the NAPA parts, but they want my cores, which are still reasonably OK, and to me, worn but not yet trashed VW parts are worth a lot more than possibly poorly reconditioned NAPA parts.

OTOH it's nice to know that on a road trip or in an emergency you can special order and get these within 24 hours at any NAPA store. (I found them at NAPA, Cedar Blvd, Newark, CA)
