Dear Listees,

I have a 1981 Vanagon L that I just got all my brake parts for to do a complete rebuild on the brakes. Now I had to let the poor thing sit for nearly 3 months while I got the money together for all the parts (Thanks to Ron and co. at Bus Depot for your patience). Well, I get the parts loaded into the bus and was going to take it to a FLARS to get the brake work done and now she won't go. With a little coaxing, I can get her to start and fire but it won't continue to run without constantly pumping the gas pedal. This is making it really hard to get her in to get it the brakes worked on.

Any ideas at all. I don't think it's the fuel filter or pump, because it does start and will rev very high if you hold the gas down. The only problem is that even with the pedal floored it will eventually die. I have no time to work on it, I just need to know what to tell the mechanic to look for. This is desperation time for me. If I can't get it fixed within the next two weeks, I'm gonna have to sell it for whatever I can get and buy something that runs.

Please respond via email as I don't have time to filter through the volume of messages that this list receives.

Thanks in advance, Joe Denison (no-longer proud) owner of an '81 Vanagon

P.S. in case you're interested, I'll take $1500 for it firm.
