It didn't use to do this. Is this a sign of impending doom? I did tighten the alternaor belt which was a bit loose, but it didn't change things. What esle should I check or is this not a problem?

I have an auxillary battery that has an isolator wired to the refrigerator relay if that makes a difference. I don't seem to have any electrical problems such as batteries going dead (yet?). Any thoughts anyone? TIA.

Roy Mellor Little Rock, AR '85 Westy, "Humbert" >> Hi Roy, temperarily remove the isolator from the charging system and see if the problem is still there. If the problem is still there, than you need a new alternator. There's something wrong with the diode in your alternator currently. Stick with a BOSCH alternator if you can. Let us know what happens.
