Problem solved! First thing this morning, I stopped by my flVWd to check the price of a new shift stick. It was only aprox. $80, so why mess with an old used stick when I can get a new for not too much? Btw, the syncro stick is the same as the 4-speed, they had the same p/n, the 5-speed had a different p/n.
