The rear hatch on my 89 Syncro GL w/ power locks refuses to open. I had locked the whole car when I noticed that the rear hatch was set up to lock/unlock independently. I locked it, and haven't been able to open it since (with the power locks or key). I've turned it to the left, I've turned it to the right, I stood up, sat down, fight, fi.. You get the idea. I seem to remember that someone on the list had a similar problem where a ritual was required of either disconnecting the battery and/or unlocking the system from the passenger-side door or something. Alternatively, can I release the lock from the inside without popping the panel? One other question: does the rear hatch have sensor that can get gummed up? This happened a few days after I had the van rustproofed, and I know that area got sprayed. Barry Armitage Editor, Materials Evaluation The American Society for Nondestructive Testing, Inc.
