The headlights themselves already turn off when you remove the key, but the parking lights remain on. You could simply switch the power source from the parking lights to a switched source (i.e., power only when the key is on). That way you could leave your headlight switch on all the time but you would not have to worry about draining your battery when you turn off the car. This could be accomplished with some basic re-wiring, I think.
