Alan, Have your van checked out mechanically, bring a few spare parts and simple tools. then go! Since your van has lasted 15 years, it can probably handle a trip out West. The only anticipated difficulties of road trip cruising are a dearth of power going up the mountains and a tendency to be severely buffeted by crosswinds and the turbulence from large trucks. There are many more vans in Oregon than in the Midwest, so obviously the population there must be more intelligent, or crazed; I often get the two confused. Enjoy your transfer!
