Tom,

I have an 84 Westy with almost 160k miles on it. In addition to ball joints I have had to replace upper control arm bushings and strut bar bushings, both of which can affect the ability to align the front end properly and have it stay in alignment. With the miles that you have on your vehicle it would make sense to have these items checked out while you have someone working on the balljoints.
