        I have just finished this process also, however, I did remove
the plastic box from the wooden arm.  It is held on with screws.  I
accessed these, by looking at the bottom and figuring out where the
screw top would be, then by cutting a slit in the top foam I was able to
unscrew it.  Worked for me, just have to be careful.  This way I was
able to put the nut and spring back into place.  Then I finished as
below.
