I've never seen a '82 5sp. The '83 Diesel 5sp I saw had the later style shift linkage, not the '82-83 usual 4sp gas and diesel linkage. I didn't check the tranny code but will do that next time I see one. This is just anectodal evidence (but I check the years in the VIN's so I know years are right). My understanding is that no or few 5sp came in '82 and the '83's may actually be 094's. The later style 91/1 we got in 83 1/2 may very well have been produced in Europe before that, and so could the 094. Helmut's tranny chart shows that 91/1's were used in the Europeean Diesels from Oct 92, and 94's from the inception of 5speeds.
