For all the arguments for or against DRL's, there is one overiding grievance I personally have. Until driving public here in the States learns to really drive - not talk on phone, not put on make-up, not be distracted by the Sonic-Boom-Base-Reflex-Speakers-Creating-The-Loudest-Most-Annoying-Noise-In -The-Known-Universe, not trying to eat a bowl of cereal, etc., etc. - then and only then will your DRL's make you more noticeable. If the we continue to pull out in front of the other guy because we're in a hurry or continue to display the kind of aggressive behavior that prompts the all too common malady of "Road Rage", DRL's won't help you worth a damn. The DRL's on my wife's Crapsler Mini Thingy does not stop the right-turn-on-red artists from pulling out in front of us. And they didn't stop the guy in his Saturn, on the cell phone taking sales notes, from changing lanes into the side of said Crapsler.

Disclaimer: The above does not apply to Vanagons, in any of their configurations, as Vanagon owners do not pull out in front of others because they love the vans, want to keep them in good condiction, and know they lack the acceleration anyway.

My $.02 worth of idle ranting.
