John,

I suggest that you join the List. Go to http://www.vanagon.com and follow the sequence for information on how to sign up. With a Syncro, you'll need the help of List members. It's an esoteric vehicle. The participants are generous with information as well as knowlegable about Vanagons. You'll do well.

Also, search the Archive at http://gerry.vanagon.com for your topic by correct name.

Gerry Skerbitz was moderator of the List for a long time. The site is named for him. Ron Lussier and Chris Smith asr the sys ops/coordinators.

Send a few Aussie dollars converted to US dollaars by postal money order to the address in the vanagon.com site. We (the members) support the hard and software by contributions.

Use larger type in your messages. Some of are old, sight-impaired or too lazy to get up to get the glasses to read the small print. Remove as many impediments to response as you can, and you'll get all the help you need. Then repost the results of your work on the vehicle based on the information and suggestions you obtained from the List.

Be specific in your request for informaion. include the topic in your Subject Line, such as Differential Lock (if that's the proper description) for Syncro, for example..

Where are you in Australia? There are other members there. Joel Walker volunteers and produces what he calls "Weakly Statz," linformation about the whereabouts of members.

Note that the List will be down Monday and possibly Tuesday for technical reasons.

Welcome aboard.
