I earlier requested information about Portland OR and basically lacked the time at that time to respond to return inquiries.

I have a few questions that are related to the vanagon. With my recent notification of transfer from east central Illinois to Portland Oregon it brings urgency to me asking again about the Portland area. I have already heard that it rains all the time. My main question is what is the area like in people, places, etc.? What is good, what is bad, etc? Is it worth bringing my '83 watercooled out?

Second; I am very nervous about driving my vanagon out there. I have no real reason except for things I read on this posting. My van is driven daily, but it is in town driving and I really have not taken out on the interstate. A question to the experienced that have driven the direction I am going what should I expect from a vanagon perspective?

Thanks,

Alan
