Subject: Solved: Headlight Warning Buzzer needed.

A while back I asked about possible solutions to the problem of battery drain resulting from leaving the headlight switch on. When you switch off the ignition on the Vanagon the headlights turn off, but the running lights stay on.

By poking around on the relay block I was able to find an empty socket that was tied to the headlight/running light circuit (#7 fog light relay).

I purchased a 12 volt buzzer at Radio Shack and attached a spade connector to one end. This connector was plugged into the #7 relay socket at the position which is hot when the running lights are on.

The other end was soldered to the ground switch circuit for the seat belt warning buzzer.

Now, if I forget to switch off the headlights, a loud buzzer reminds me when I open the door. It works well and I am happy.
