Had same problem on passenger side window.
My plastic guide holder broke because I had static stick on tinting. Forgot
to take it off and it jammed the window.
Used small bolt instead of rivet.
Took about two days of work by myself. (also had to rewind cable like you
did. don't ask me how I did it with only two hands. I don't remember the
details, just the swearing)
I didn't realize this was a problem so prevalent.
Maybe I'll get into the driver's side and rebolt the plastic guide before
it breaks and I have to do the rewind job too!
