Hi Volks,
I want to start a nationwide KOA boycott by Volkswagen owners.!
I went to the Woodstock show a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the
KOA up the road from the show. I have never been treated so sh**ty in
my life. I thought the rates we ridiculous. We have always known the
manager of that KOA was a jerk but he showed his true colors that
weekend. He made a 'one car per site rule' and when we found that the
printed rules said we could put another car if we paid an extra 2 bucks,
we approached him and asked if this was true. He said "It is for every
weekend expect this one, I'm being invaded by Volkswagens". I can't
understand his problem, if it were me, I'd trickled pink to fill my
campground during the off season. This guy seems to think that a full
campground is bad.
Anyway, I plan on making a formal protest with the KOA company and I do
not plan on staying at ANY KOA again. (I've had other experiences with
different KOA's)
In the past I had heard of a State Park on the other side of Woodstock
that was quite nice. The place it called the Kennith Wilson State Park.
This year we made it point to check it out. The reports we underated.
The state park is very nice! The roads are paved right to your site,
(great for show cars) the sites are big and the place is clean. Rates
are reasonable (12 bucks per nite) There isn't electric on site but they
do have nice showers and bath houses. So I'm making it my personal goal
to try to inform everyone needing a camping space the nite before the
Wookstock show to campout out at the state park.
As the show gets closer keep your ears open for more info on the All
new 'Buses in Der woods' at Woodstock.
I'm hoping you'll join me for a Boycott of the KOA. Take care.
