Ummm, my 82 Westy, which says 'Vanagon' on the back, doesn't have any hole at the bottom at all, big or otherwise. The engine is completely enclosed by black tin. I've been in the marine business a long time (sail loft) and I've seen a lot of engine compartments that weren't as 'enclosed' as my Westy's. Any fire I have is going to get fought through the oil filler/liscence plate lid, and I bet I can fill the engine compartment with foam in no time. |
