Subject: Replacement of crossover tubes
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com

1991 Vanagon 2.1L : I have a coolant leak (slow) in the 4" rubber hose that connects the metal crossover tube from the water pump to the plastic flanged pipe that connects to the right Head. I choose to replace both pipes (heard the metal one rusts internally and the plastic one cracks), hose, water pump and temp sender and expansion tank with new cap while the coolant system is drained. Does anyone know of a source for these pipes besides the dealer? Ron at Busdepot say dealer only. Also, do you need to coat the gaskets (silcone base stuff at FLAPS) at the pipe flange connections to the water pump and head or just mount them as-is ?? Any advise greatly appreciated.
