Subject: Middle Bench Seat, Jump Seat for '85 Westy GL?
Comments: To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM

TO: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM

Hi all. We currently only have one child, but we plan to have more in the future.

I also just bought an '85 Westy GL.

Here's the question I'm a bit confused about. Although not necessary right now, I'll be looking for another seat in the future for the camper to accommodate the fam. on trips. (I plan to keep this thing for quite a while).

What are my options? I don't want to have to modify/weld the seat or tracks (after pulling the mats, it looks like the bolt for the seats are pre-existing). Also, I don't mind if the upholstery doesn't match my tan velour, but is it possible?

According to the archives, these are my options:

1. A hard to find and expensive jump seat (although some posts in the archive said these won't fit Westies)--(are these the same as the Wolfsburg/Carat seats?) 2. A two person bench seat (the same as in a regular Vanagon?) 3. A stool (not really an option, just interesting). 4. A bean bag with a seat belt.

Again, I will be looking for one of these options in the future (not right now).

Please clarify or add any information I could use, including general price ranges, what would be a good deal, etc.

As always, thanks!

-Patrick

PS-anybody got a used Bentley manual 80-91 they want to "get rid of"?
