I just completed a trip of close to 5000 miles from Wisconsin to San
Francisco to Los Angeles and back with my '95 EVC. No major problems
experienced on the trip. Saw a '95 EVC and a green weekender in the
Pfeiffer-Big Sur campground when I camped there but didn't get to talk to
the owners. Saw a couple new EVCs on a trailer being transported in
Nebraska. Stopped at the Winnebago factory in Forest City, IA on the way
home and looked at a new EVC there. Not too many differences from my '95.
Instead of the fluorescent light to the right of the rear seat, it has 4
spot lights in the center over the rear seat. The dash is different but the
functions of the controls are the same. There's a button to turn A/C on and
off which gives more flexibility to the HVAC system than the '95 has with
its slider control. The glovebox space is taken up with a passenger airbag.
There are two cupholders in the center of the dash with a small storage
compartment beneath. The radio was a Panasonic rather than the Sony that is
in mine. The fridge had a tag wired to the shelf explaining that operation
on propane above 4000' elevation would be uncertain and recommended
operation on AC or DC at those altitudes. It also explained the availability
of a high altitude kit as an option. The fridge had both the lower and the
upper vent on the outside. I had thought that the lower vent was part of the
high altitude kit. Guess not. The tires were Michelin Agilis 51s; size
205/65 R15C. The propane service on the left side of the vehicle had a neat
black plastic cover on it. It clips on the nuts on the bolts that hold the
guard on under the service. I checked with the parts man to see if I could
get one. He didn't have the fiche for the new vehicle so he went back to the
production line to get one for me. The bad news was the price--over $90.00.
I figured it wasn't worth that to me.

Hi Marve, that other lower vent on the outside of the newer EVC, is a high
altitude kit which is standard on all now. The reason for this, is because
the older versions constantly had air starvation at the frig burner, causing
the frig to quit working over time at sea level and at higher altitudes. If
you don't have one, you are going to need one anyway. Also if you have a
chance to drive a new EV Winnebago, they are a lot different, a very nice
ride
and quite too. See ya.
