hello, listees,

the demands of graduate school necessitate the following decision (gulp):

For Sale: 1987 syncro gl, with weekender bed: $4500

- 130K - Very pretty to look at (white with blue interior) - No rust, clean outside and in - Privacy glass on all windows (slightly lighter shade on rear) except driver's, passenger's and (obviously) windshield. - Factory am/fm/cassette radio - Good tires, body is in excellent shape - 4 gears + granny and rear differential lock - Excellent heater (a/c does not work) - One PO

Stuff i've done: - Tranny rebuilt in july with new clutch; both have about 10K on them. - New head gaskets done in february '98 - New catalytic converter at 107K - New muffler and other exhaust work - Power steering fluid pump rebuilt - Front rotors machined and rear and parking brakes adjusted in august - Headlight rocker switch replaced with a used one in september.

Other stuff worth mentioning: - 2 LOF checks done since november 1997 - Regular oil changes - All maintenance records kept - Gets 20-22 mpg on the highway

Stuff i'll miss: - Not having to pay for lodging. just load up the van and go! - The cargo space. my next move may be a logistical nightmare without the hauling capacity of my van. - The response the vehicle gets from other drivers (not just other vanagon drivers). this car has character! - She looks cute with a bike rack and a bike or two up top (bike rack not included) - And much more ...

i drove this van from north carolina to california to pennsylvania to vermont over a month this summer. she did beautifully! i'd dearly love to sell her to someone on the list because i know she'd be with someone who knows about the care and feeding of a vw.

we're located in southern vermont, just over the border from new hampshire and massachusets. i'd be happy to drive within two hours if someone wants to meet me to see her. just email me. all serious inquiries happily received!

thanks, all. susan and magnus in vermont
