The best tire I have used(and am planning to buy a new set of 4 this winter!) is the Bridgestone Blizzak. These tires in a set of 4 will have you wishing it will snow more so that you can go out and play! Really no need for chains, unless you are REALLY stuck. And they are phenominal on ICE ! Ask The Tire Rack to send you a brochure if you want to know WHY they work so well. The Dunlop Graspic series works OK too,but I've found the Blizzaks to be far better, albeit at the cost of shorter tread life. The tread compound is part of the secret to them working so well. They are a 2-ply sidewall tire,so are considered a 'reinforced' tire. Just a short story yet--- Three years ago I had a 2WD Westy, loaded to the gills with bodies, snowboards, bicycles and tons of gear. Going over Monarch Pass in Colorado, lots of snow, icy roads, cars pulled off everywhere to put on chains, the less smart sliding crossways on the road. My Westy-load (with Blizzaks installed all 4 wheels) went right on by the whole group without even a whisper of slip-and slide. Made me a true believer!

Have fun,all! Karl ' 87 Westy Syncro
