It's probably the switch (since it affects all lights). My headlight switch went out on the road recently too. I took a bread tie and wired across the large terminals on back of the switch to get home. Junkyards have plenty of switches (make sure replacements have the correct # of terminals). I got mine off an Audi.

You can test your current switch by removing it from the dash (very easy) and checking continuity between the two large terminals when the switch is on. The power to all headlights goes through these 2 terminals.
