The temp gauge needle should normally run somewhere near the center of the gauge, i.e. close to the LED. Some folks will swear the needle should be right in the center of the LED or just below it but there's nothing to back up these claims. What's important is that the gauge indicate a relatively stable temperature and not fluctuate wildly or stay at either extreme. The temperature will creep up in certain situations such as stop and go traffic and climbing long hills. When this happens, the radiator fan should come on until the temp drops back to normal.
