I have a 84 same thing, Is the infor good for me?

< did the exact thing to our 87 van about a year ago. Pulling and replacing the dash is quite straightforward but time consuming. Make sure you get two replacement breakaway bolts (steering column fastening) from a dealer or from one of our great list sources at the same time that you order a new heater motor (it's the same as the 87 Golf heater motor, and so is fairly cheap).

Splitting the heater housing at the seam to replace the motor requires only a sharp chisel, and putting it back together requires either silicone sealant or the fabled replacement clips which I couldn't get from the dealer, and so didn't use.

Helps to have another pair of hands to lift the dash off, but it's not really too heavy for one person.
