Subject: Shoulder belts INSTALLED!

Many thanks to Joel Walker, Jim Davis and Helmut Zeidler for their competent help with my seat belt issue. I installed the belts this morning into my 86GL just in time for my grand-kids to ride this weekend. They work great and cost me less than $150 for all the parts. That's the best price I have had on any VW part in years.

The funny part of all this is that the Service Manager and the Parts Manager, both long time employees at my local VW Dealer, told me that there were no kits for installing shoulder belts in my Vanagon. Furthermore, "if such things were available, it would be ILLEGAL for me to install them," they said.

They sat in stony faced silence when the part numbers I gave them showed up on their inventory lists.

Thanks again -- Frank LaHorgue
