Suzanne - Saw you mention your #1 Mechanic, Bela and noticed that you are in the "Valley" - over 25 years ago I had my first VW (an early 1965 bug) and lived in Burbank - we used a wonderful mechanic up on San Fernando (I think) north of the Burbank airport whose name was Bela - might this still be the same person? (From my age at the time Bela was ancient then - can't imagine now)... Just wondering... David W. Thanks to all of you for responding about the armrest, especially to Helmut (lucky me, I read German). Just got my 90 Vanagon back from my a #1 mechanic Bela, and was very happy my new buggy is in pretty good shape for 138,000 miles. One dumb problem is the lock on the rear lid. Doesn't seem to want to open at all, even following the instructions in the manual. Bela doesn't do locks...what do I do, get a locksmith? Or is there some magical incantation I say over it? I'm beginning to love this list. SuZanne ***************************** Suzanne F.
