Hi, I'm not sure of the power of these Porsche engines, thought MSDS said 230HP, tweaked up probably in 300+ range. More than needed in a vanagon, likely more than the trans could even take. Nice alternative for those wanting say 230HP is the Subaru SVX 6cyl 3.3l wasserboxer. The kit is made, it's the same (KEPs' ) as for the 2.2-2.5l Legacy 4 cyl engine. Voila, heat, power, a cheap kit $520, a cheap long-lived engine, say $3-4K. Why Porsche it when this kind of alternative is available? Yes you'll need tomake your own engine hanger bar, but _maybe_ the KEP one would work? Exhaust is simple as two 3-into-1 headers are bolted to Subaru heads, nice straight connection off the outlet side (easier than the 2.2l version) I'm guessing this would push a vanagon past 120mph should you dare. Someone going to try this soon?
