Yau-Man, Maybe you don't really appreciate your Vanagon,from the sound of your letter.....I also service Asian cars,and believe me-they have their own set of problems,not limited to just poor design of many components. I will reiterate-maintenance is the KEY to longevity(not LUCK,as you insinuate),whether it means having to change your coolant every 2 years,or whatever. I have seen MANY asian headgaskets blown,yes on those very Toyotas,Nissans,Subarus (talk about poor cylinder head castings!),Mitsubishi,Isuzu,and so on. A better choice for you maybe is an Asian(read:boring)minivan-but they will never build a WONDERFUL vehicle like our Vanagons.How many Asian vans have such part exchangeability as a Vanagon,either?
