In the States, there is a great carrier made by Sherpak. We bought one exactly the right size for the Westy roof rack a year or two ago from Boundary Waters (outdoor, canoesupplies, etc.). The version we bought is the Sherpak 7, I believe. Catalog says 20" wide, 45" long 13" high, about 7 cu ft. Very heavy vinyl, and with lots of straps, heavy zippers and over-cover. Stuff inside has never gotten wet, even in driving rain (pun intended). $125 on the web site catalog, which also says something about limited quantity at that price. We attach ours to the westy with 4 bungy cords. The numerous straps are probably great for a rack.
