The U Joints have gone bad on the driveshaft of my 87 syncro. I have found a good machinist to replace them but am wondering if it will cause any damage or problems to operate the vanagon without the drive shaft while this is being repaired. Any opinions appreciated.

Thanks!!

This is a much debated point. I had my driveshaft out of my 87 syncro for about 7 months last year and all seems to be fine so far.. Rob 87 syncro
