Kristenand list: There is a 3M tool that runs about$15 for the rol lok drill adapter and the" Scotchbrite Molding adhesive andstripe remaval discs". Part #07501 is the 4" disc that requires 4k rpm drill(air tool?) or the 6" disc(part#07502) for 2800 rpm work. The Roloc(correct spelling) and holder part number is 07500 and I have seen trhem at larger Walmart stores combined with a sanding kit.

The adhesive removal discs are several thin very floppy white discs of a foan/plastic sbstance that stiffen with increased drill speed. They are specifially designed to remove decals and pinstripes on auto and boat finishes w/o harming paint or gel coat. A body shop friend of mine swears by their use on car finishes but my use for them was to remove old grungy contact cement residue from the bottom/inside of ABS and fiberglass canoes.

Rather than use acetone which evaporates too quickly, a slightly slower evaporating solvent would work better like Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Tolulene, or Xylene. Be very careful and juducious about how much you glop on the vertical serface if you choose to use the chemicals.
