The original message did not say that it was 2WD, so it could have beena Syncro. The only other Graz made 2WD Vanagons I've seen have all been 1991 models. I speculated that by then the Hanover plant had switched over to the T4 Eurovan and had SDP in Austria finish up the last of the production run of 1991 model T3 vans.

The original message was however about a 1987 model. If it really really is a 2WD '87 made in Graz, it shoots big holes in my theory!
