Hello John and all,

My '87 syncro westy has the configuration described by you, John, and not the other set up that Malcolm Holser and Johan Nyberg have.

I was just checking my idle stabilizer this afternoon per "idle stabilizer, checking/1st check on 24.53 in the Bentley. Firstly, the idle stabilizer valve does not hum or vibrate detectably. Should the vibration or humming from it be readily apparent with the key on, or is it very subtle? I unplugged the wiring connection on its left end and could not discern a difference, except for maybe an electrical contact sound. If wiring is intact to the IS control unit, then bentley says replace the IS control unit. Is this the $210 item (025 906 457A ) for sale at the BusDepot (and elsewhere I'm sure)? Or is that the "idle stabilizer valve?" If so, where can you get the control unit?
