As to whether disconnecting the connector to the valve itself is as effective as disconnecting the single-wire connector, I can't say. I've avoided making idle adjustments on my engine as you really should have an exhaust gas analyzer to do this properly. Once the idle speed and CO are set correctly you should almost never have to mess with them. It's not like the old days with carburators.
