Subject: Audi 5 cyl engine swap experiences?
Comments: To: Vanagon@vanagon.com

Can anyone tell me of their experience with the Audi 5 cyl swap? I am looking into doing an engine swap on my 89 Vanagon Carat with auto transmission and 184k miles. Currently I am leaning towards the Audi 5 cylinder kit provided by Detlev Hanschke of the Engine Center in Livermore Calif. It has more torque than the Eurospec. My first choice would be the TDi, but I can wait no longer ( heads leaking badly). I need something that will pass smog in Calif, TIA
