I bought a roof bag for my Jetta a few years ago that works perfectly for
our Westfalia's cargo pit. It is 45" x 45" x 15", made of sturdy
water-proofed blue woven nylon, three sided double zipper, felted
heavy-gauge vinyl bottom, has eight nylon straps (I use six of them). Works
great. I just roll the excess bag into a wee roll at the rear of the cargo
pit. Comes with drip rail clips, if you want to use it on your Passat or
Jetta.

Believe it or not, K-Mart. $39.00. in their "On The Road" section. If
you've got a Jetta or Golf, this thing works great as a trunk liner, too
(when you are hauling messy or disgusting stuff). When fully unfurled, it
is almost exactly the size of the interior of the trunk.
