Greetings:

I'm new to the list serve but a longtime Bus and now Westy owner and dim-witted mechanic.

My 87 Westy (aka "Kiboko") has slowly increased its oil consumption to about 1 quart every 4,0000 miles. I assume this is higher than normal VW Westy tolerances.

It has 116K on it and no obvious oil leaks and runs only slightly weaker than the when I bought it 2 years ago.

Aside from financial issues, when is the best time to tackle the probable engine rebuild work, if that's the cause? Now or later.

The collective wisdom is appreciated.

Rich D
