Yau-Man, Maybe you don't really appreciate your Vanagon, from the sound of your letter.....I also service Asian cars, and believe me-they have their own set of problems, not limited to just poor design of many components. I will reiterate-maintenance is the KEY to longevity(not LUCK,as you insinuate),whether it means having to change your coolant every 2 years,or whatever. I have seen MANY asian headgaskets blown, yes on those very Toyotas,Nissans,Subarus (talk about poor cylinder head castings!),Mitsubishi,Isuzu, and so on. A better choice for you maybe is an Asian(read:boring)minivan-but they will never build a WONDERFUL vehicle like our Vanagons. How many Asian vans have such part exchangeability as a Vanagon, either? Of course,as always, this is only IMHO. Everyone enjoy! Karl
