Subject: Re: how to carry a boat & what oil

The oil should be a multigrade, according to VW 505 00 (VW has an own standard for oil, as do several auto mfg.'s) The oil grade should be according to the outside temp. 15w-50 has a very long temp range. The first and last number shows the range of the oil, but it is not a temp scale, neither in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

The owners manual for my 88 Vanagon says that a Diesel van can pull 1200 kg of trailer, while the Turbo-D can pull 1500 kg (2WD figures)
