A couple of days ago our 95 Passat TD had a hole in one of the front tires. It needed new tires anyway so I did my usual shopping around: "Oh this tire, it costs less at the other place", until I had a good deal (I got Michelin X1 195/65 14). I tried to pump up the tire, but the leak was too big to reach the tire dealer with air. Admittedly I was too lazy too get the spare out for the 20min journey. Since the leak was on the side of the tread I came up with an idea of something i had never thought I would do: I screwed a short woodscrew into the hole in the tire. I pumped the tire up and it worked. I got safely to the tire dealer. Now I have another item to take along on those outback journeys with the Syncro, because you never know... cheers, Björn Ratjen Mill Bay, B.C. 1987 Syncro Est Alia (self camperized) 1995 Passat TD (1982 Vanagon Diesel) 1979 VW Bus (self- camperized) |
